Weekly SNDtrack: Ben Howard

Ben Howard was born in London but moved to Totnes, Devon in his early teens. Growing up his principal musical influences came from his parents. On one hand he listened to artists such as: Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, Joni Mitchell, Nina Simone and Simon and Garfunkel, and on the other a bit of Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones.

After a short stint studying journalism, Howard dropped out of school and, at the age of 21, decided to become a full-time musician.

After hitting the road to tour across the UK, he built up a solid reputation and following and was eventually signed to Island Records.

His first album, Every Kingdom, was released on October 3, 2011 and debuted at #7 on the UK album chart.

This February he’ll be travelling the U.S in support of Mumford & Sons.

Here’s the track for “The Fear.”
