Friends and I are always having conversations about wanting to work for ourselves. We’re constantly discussing those we know that have given up the ‘daily grind’ and are happily self employed. Working for yourself is obviously much harder than working for someone else but, when you’re passionate about what you do it doesn’t feel like work right?….Or so they say.
A downside of this can be not having a team around. We’re all social creatures and ultimately we want to have others around to talk to, bounce ideas off of, or to simply keep us company.
Studiomates is a collaborative workspace of designers, illustrators, bloggers, writers, and developers located in Brooklyn, New York.
Below is a video of one of their members (CreativeMornings.com Breakfast Officer Kevin Huynh) celebrating his birthday there. The video was filmed and edited by Bas Berkhout – a Brooklyn-based, Dutch-born filmmaker working from StudioMates.
How fun would it be to work in this environment?
