The Market

Just like the art of hand written letters seems to be fading, so is the importance of the original social network. Emphasis is placed on having many virtual friends, likes, shares, and re-Tweets and not on face-to-face interactions or verbal communication.

Over the last couple of years, thanks to YouNxt I’ve had to opportunity to meet many outstanding people; people that inspire me to stay motivated, ambitious and to dream big…too big at times.

A couple of months back after a coffee talk with one of these inspirational people I decided to host a dinner to which I would invite a group of women who I’ve met thanks to YouNxt. Women who I thought could benefit from meeting each other and include one another in their own personal social network.

So on May 31, with the help of friends Anna Bartula and Ania Piszczkiewicz, we hosted an intimate three course dinner for 17 women at one of Toronto’s newest hot spots The Grove restaurant. We called the event The Market.

The Grove is a 50-seat Dundas West restaurant from chef Ben Heaton (One, Colborne Lane, Globe Bistro) and Richard Reyes (One) that’s aimed at introducing Toronto diners to modern English cuisine.

Ben created a custom three course menu just for us and Richard went above and beyond as a host. The restaurant’s exposed brick walls, long communal dining tables, mismatched rustic chairs and open concept kitchen set the perfect backdrop and atmosphere for our lovely dinner.

A huge thank you to all who attended as well as The Grove for hosting us. And a big thanks to Zuzanna Szlachcic for creating our invitations. Please check our Facebook page for more photos.
