A long long time ago in a galaxy far far away BlackBerry was good, cool and everyone loved it. It ruled the mobile universe and left everyone inspired. Heck, even the really cool, creative kids loved it; and you know that where these kids go everyone follows. BlackBerry was like the Mac of the cell phone world (before the iPhone fucked it all up for them.)
Remember this awesome commercial with DJ Diplo?
Didn’t you just want to live like him, party like him and just be HIM. Well, you’re life as Diplo was just a BlackBerry Torch away.
Enter the Dark Ages
Sadly, after all its success Blackberry lost its way. Lack if ingenuity and vision started the downward spiral but the final nail in the coffin came from the iPhone which, with all its bells and whistles, nearly vaporized BlackBerry out of the mobile universe. You know the rest of this story.
Enter the BlackBerry 10.
Now in an attempt to bring back its cool and resurrect some street cred, BlackBerry has teamed up with three creative mavericks, filmmaker Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn), musician Alicia Keys and writer Neil Gaiman, on the “Keep Moving Projects.”
Here’s how BlackBerry describes it:
“The new BlackBerry Z10 is designed to keep you moving. So we’ve given it to three people who never stop. These incredibly talented and ambitious people are always looking for the next exciting challenge.
That’s where you come in.
Alicia Keys, Robert Rodriguez and Neil Gaiman are each about to embark on their own unique, groundbreaking project with BlackBerry and want to collaborate with you.
They want you to inspire them, engage with them and impress them with your ideas.”

We love this concept (especially the fact that movie maverick Robert Rodriguez is taking part), love the video and can’t wait to get an inside peek into the creative world of these three.
In an even cooler move, Alicia Keys has actually been named BlackBerry’s Global Creative Director. In this role, Keys will work closely with app developers, content creators, retailers, carriers and the entertainment community to further shape and enhance the BlackBerry 10 platform, and inspire its creative use.
Here’s Alicia Keys in Episode 1 of her adventure…
Well done BlackBerry. Here’s to a successful resurrection.[like] [tweets]
